 FAQs

  • Nina works with adult clients (over 18). You may consider booking if you:

    • Would like to learn more about how to support and understand neurodivergent people in your life

    • Would like to engage in neurodiversity-affirming therapy to address mental health concerns or for personal development

  • Nina currently offers psychological therapy services for adults only. She does not see children and teenagers under 18, and currently does not offer formal assessments for autism, ADHD, or other forms of neurodivergence.

Nina also cannot work with anyone that is currently or has previously been involved with the criminal justice system.

  • Neurodiversity-affirming psychology is a way of understanding and supporting people with neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia, by embracing their differences as natural and valuable.

    • Nina is an autistic and ADHD psychologist, and is the founder of Divergent Disco Psychology

    • Neurodivergent sensory needs, communication and listening styles are encouraged, understood and respected

    • Neurodiversity-affirming language is used

    • Therapy supports neurodivergent people instead of trying to “make them more normal/neurotypical”

    • Therapy aims to understand the needs of neurodivergent people from their perspective

    • The neurotype/identity/strengths-based model is used, rather than a medical/pathology/disorder model

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long and are a collaboration between the therapist and client.

The initial session will involve learning about you, your background, some of your experiences and your goals for therapy.

Follow-up sessions will be focused on working towards your therapeutic goals and reviewing them over time.

If you ever feel uncomfortable about a session or unsure about the direction of your therapy, you are in a safe space to share that with Nina. The most important aspect of therapy is your experience, and while it can be helpful and healthy to feel challenged in sessions, it’s also okay to speak up when something doesn’t sit right with you.

  • Each 50-minute psychology session with Nina is $240.

For individuals eligible for the Medicare rebate:
The Medicare rebate is $98.95 and the out-of-pocket cost is $141.05.

  • If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need to have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. Currently, the MHCP covers 10 psychology sessions per year, where eligible individuals will receive a rebate and pay the remaineder of the session fee out-of-pocket.

If you do not wish to get a MHCP and claim through Medicare, you are welcome to pay for psychology sessions privately, in full.

Please select the session type you’d like at booking.
